What ball is comparable to the SCREAM/R... no matter what company
« on: September 17, 2004, 08:48:17 PM »
With a high gloss, the SCREAM/R was perfect for Medium to Medium/Light.

I need something to go above my Columbia WILD. I was it to have great clearence through the heads, but have a good backend (not monsterous), but just like the Scream/R.

I wish I could find a 15lb USED or NIB Scream/R, but nobody has them it seems?

I thought that maybe the Blazing Inferno would be what I'm looking for, but after reading the reviews, it seems that it may have a weaker backend than the Scream/R?

There's a bunch of Blazing Inferno's on Ebay for cheap, but I'm alos affraid to try it as seeing how the ball was only out for about 3 weeks it seems before they discontinued it... something tells me it didn't sell to good or was maybe a turd ball?

I have a ScreamR left drilled, no weight hole, thumb pitch zero, somewhat used, but not in bad shape either.  Make an offer I might seriously consider.

Yep Scream/r (lower rg and diff of .35?)is awesome and is very similar to the sonic boom (higher rg and diff of .29) but just a touch more pop and flare(scream/r).

If you loved the Scream/r I'd get one.  If you don't get one the Sonic Boom is close but smoother and I believe more readable!

Another Scream/r.

Should be some good ones in here!

Hey Ric,

I'd say the Crash from Track is pretty close to the reaction.  Good luck bud..

Dr Rev,

How can the Jekyll and Hyde both be good replacements? The Jekyll I can see... but the Hyde is a heavy oil ball.

I don't know if the Slay/R is really what you'd be looking for. IIRC, the Scream/R was somewhat aggressive. Have you taken a look at the Stinger Low-Flare by Ebonite. It has been re-released as the "Ice".

Clint, don't be afraid of trying the Blazing Inferno. If you can get one cheap (reasonable), I'd pick it up. A bit of warning, though: don't drill the ball too weak. The activator cover is hard and durable... it skates easily through the heads. Because of this, the ball can be drilled on the stronger end and still retains energy well.

In fact, I was going to suggest you try a Blazing, but I thought it might be too expensive. However, if you can find them on eBay: get one.

A little less flare, and I'm not sure how the covers match up, but I'd imagine a Beast Pearl would be close.  They're not made anymore either, but aren't hard to find.  Similar lightbulb shaped core.
