First night of golf league
« on: April 19, 2004, 07:58:11 AM »
This may not be the right place, but I figure more golfers will see it here.....I joined our church golf league for the summer and tonight was the first night -- and what a night it was!!  Fantastic weather, 92* although it was windy!!  Just as league was starting, a small front blew through and dropped the temps into the upper 70s, low 80s -- spectacular!!  After not having touched the clubs since October (no thanks to this sport !!), I ended up shooting +2 for the night -- 2 bogies and the rest pars.  If I could only learn to putt!!  Anybody else start their leagues yet?

Bones -

I would usually post this kind of stuff over at GEA, but after 3+years of thinking nothing but golf, it's been a pleasant change to become obsessed with bowling.

I'm not sure how this league works since it's my first time around with it.  It's a 9 hole league with 2 man teams and, I'm assuming, best ball gets the point with an extra point for total (20pt. overall).  I have pretty much screwed myself as far as handicap goes, but I had gotten it down to a 1 scrambling for my life last year.  This year I made the bold move to keep my bag set (except for the putter - see my profile for my setup, if you're interested) and just have a good time......It's worked after week one!!

I'm hoping that this league is more of a "let's have fun" league vs. the "I've got to WIN!" league.  They play winter rules and, last night, were rolling the ball everywhere!!  The one guy completely missed the ball on a chip and asked what the ruling was.  It's a church league, so I let the guy wrestle that decision with the BIG guy.....
