Speed needs to match up to the rev rate for the best carry. So while the speed may decline with the heavier ball, my guess is so does the rev rate.
With time and practice, you'll adjust to the 14#. It probably won't take long 1 pound is not much. It's just a matter of building up some strength in the arm and wrist.
