What Ball?
« on: January 30, 2012, 07:04:01 AM »
What ball would give me the same look as the Storm Reign but stronger?

When I am able to use this ball when the lane conditions let me, I carry everything, I cant miss.
But when their is to much oil or the ball skids past the break point I just dont get the same carry from my other balls. Which currently are the Hammer Taboo, Storm Victory Road and the Storm Reign Supreme.

I would really like to find something with the same motion but stronger, Thanks.

You could do a Marvel Pearl.  Seems to be a little stronger but similar backend type reaction.  If you want something even stronger, step up to a Nano or Nano Pearl, providing you want to stay with Storm.

Agree - the Nano is a fabulous ball - wish I had the money to buy one! Strong but smooth reaction on the backend and hits like a truck.

Sevenpin,

How is your reign laid out? From what I've seen of the reign, its very clean in the fronts with a very defined motion at the back.

Once I get you your Eagle (soon, I promise!), it will work similar with an ability to cover more oil.

Well Doom my layout is as follows:                 x  x
                                                                o
                                                           y
                                                                    x

Pin above fingers have never worked for me, goes way to long for the way I through the ball. Of course I am a lefty.

I don't know about the aftermath. That ball is silly strong. Mine hooks feet. If you were to go seismic, I would say a strong euphoria may work.

My personal opinion would be that you should look at the Taboo Blue/Silver pearl. I've seen it in action and I own a Reign and from that experience I know the Taboo is easy down the lane but turns over on the backend with much more authority than the Reign.

I have a Seismec After Math Pearl and it does not hook nowhere near as much as my Storm Reign.

OK. I know you're a lefty, and where you bowl. Just put holes in anything, and average 220! (Kidding)

I really liked my black Break there on the right side, and the Eagle is the same ball, different color. I would go pin at 4.5 inches below the fingers, and go 5 inches from pap with the mass bias. The cover is very tunable, and isn't super aggressive. Its more than enough for house shots.

The Victory Road pearl would be the closest reaction. Both Thunder Line balls with R2S Pearl cover.

From what I've seen personally...they look almost identical. The specs are 2.55RG/.052 Diff in the Reign and 2.56RG/.052 Diff in the VR. Basically identical balls but the core is slightly different shape.

i would suggest the anarchy.  drilled a reign did not like it.  sold it bought the anarchy and love it.  just drilled nano pearl also even stronger than anarchy.

You know its funny you say this as I have a Victory Road Pearl and the same exact drilling as my Reign.
The Victory Road is stronger than the Reign but for some reason in my hands the Victory Road is more rolley than the Reign. I don't get that hard bight at the end like I do with my Reign, its more of a loop.

Then tweak the cover on the VR. Take it down to 500 abralon, then 1000, then lightly polish. You will probably see a perfect compliment to your Reign. Reign of Fire is definitely an option too.
