What balls look impressive in your area?
« on: January 24, 2019, 10:12:53 AM »
What balls look impressive in the region that you bowl in? Double points for balls from a company that you wouldn't normally throw.

I've been very impressed with the Vapor Zone and Katana/Katana Slash. I'm also more and more surprised at the useability of the Purple Hammer for a lot of high rev crowbar styles. I'm seeing high rpm guys have the ability to park it in one spot all night and just throw it harder to get the corners out.

How about you guys?

I won't get double points, but that White Hot Badger. It's insane.

I can't wait to throw that ball. My badger I like, it's just drilled way too weak. It's more of a struggle all night, pull out the badger for 240+ ball. I would love to have something I could boom right on the fresh and stick with it for 3+ games.

Saw a guy few weeks ago throw a 299 in practice with a Honey Badger (not bowling league this year so see less big games).  That ball is money if you can repeat shots.  Need to get there so can enjoy mine more.

Tale of two houses, one house is a heavier volume pattern with an EBI staffer running the pro shop, the Web, Web Tour, Tactix, and Roto Grip Idol all look great.

Other house, drier, seeing lots of scores with Hy-Road X's, Hustle Inks, regular Badger from Global as well.

There is no one ball dominating in my area these days. I see a little bit of everything. People are throwing Rhinos, Katana Slashes, Black Widow golds, Sure Locks, Code X's, Intense Fires, Paradox V's, DCT's, you name it! And this is all on the same damn THS!!
SMH.

The one ball that got my attention recently however was the Idol Pearl! That does look to be a unique piece!

I was recently throwing my Gauntlet Fury and scoring well up until the transition.....then the shot went south quickly, so I started throwing my teammates Scandal and I was pleasantly surprised at how smooth and consistent it was.
Some days you're the bug....some days you're the windshield...that's bowling!

This sums up what I'm seeing in our area.

I'm not a Hammer guy, but I've seen enough good in the Web and Web Tour both locally and on TV to take the plunge on those 2 balls myself.

Excellent pieces.

in my sport league, there are several PhysiXs, HyRoad X, Katana Slash, Quantum Bias and an ebonite staff member that is making a lot their stuff look pretty good.

It might not be everyones cup of tea but i can't seem to put my After Dark Pearl down.  which is sad because everything else in my bag is $150 and up and my after dark was $100 out the door.  But i'm just shooting 250 and up games on the regular with it.  i just find where there isn't a lot of oil and i live there with it

All this talk is getting me excited to buy my drill press. You guys are going to hear a weather report talking about an odd cloud appearing over Western Chicagoland. It's really just going to be me.

Does the placement of the CG of said cloud "matter"?  :P
