According to your profile, you are 14 years old.

So, if you were tracking by your fingers 10 years ago at age 4, obviously you've grown some since then, and you are now developing a "truer" track.

If your hit is the same as it was 10 years ago, though, that can't be too good, since a 4 year old can hardly get the ball down the lane with any kind of speed (unless, of course, he's Bam Bam).

Also, according to your profile, you average 156, which leads me to believe your hit was not as good when you were a mere babe.

Your roll, by the way, is just fine.

Let me know if I'm misunderstanding something.

Your track is important for the ball setup, when the ball is drilled. It defines the PAP, the positive axis point, which is the axis through the ball upon its initial rotation. Very important for the ball driller and the ball reaction - a strong layout for a low track player can be a very tame one for a high track player!

Besides, the track will also tell you how the ball moves down the lane. Low trackers rather tend to spin the ball on a more vertical axis, creating good length. High trackers rather tend to roll the ball end-over-end.

But this is only a very rough outline of what's behind.
