What do you do when someone is throwing for a 300 game?
« on: April 10, 2012, 12:55:40 PM »
League night. Your have finished your games, but the lanes beside you have not. You notice there is guy on those lanes with 8 in a row (four more to go for a 300).

Do you stay and watch him throw for a 300?

What if it was for a 800 series?

How about if was the almighty 900 series?

I would stay and watch all of them.

300, no, unless I knew it was their first 300.
800, same as above.
900 I would stay for.

In most cases, if I know the person (likely), I'll stick around. No matter how many 300/800's a person has thrown, there is still a little bit of special to it. I've had my share, but I always appreciate the people who hang out to acknowledge the feat.

I stay for 300.  If they are close to finish for an 800 I stay.  If they are at the beginning of game 3 I leave.  An 800 can easily become 600 series.  Can't count how many times a guy throws 300 and 140 in the same series.  As for 900 not going to even wonder I watch a 600 for 2 games and no 800 really!

Ok, if you shoot a 300 or 800 while we are bowling State in a couple of weeks, I will stay and watch.

I would probably hang around for a 300 or 800, but if the guy was going to shoot 900 I would have to leave. The thought of someone achieving 900 before me in either of my home houses would be just to much to deal with in the moment.

I'd congratulate him the following week though, but I just wouldn't want to be there to witness it.

Why in the world wouldn't you stay and watch the 300?  He's in your league so you know him and his team mates.  It's still an honor score.  It's interesting to see how calm and collected people are or how nervous they are.  Will he pure the next four?  Will he spray and pray due to nerves.  Will he leave a solid 8 for a righty or a  solid 9 for a lefty?  Jesus, people should really check their jadedness at the door sometimes.

...it's as if "honor score" has become an oxymoron.

800 is obviously harder but a 300 is the ultimate. Doesn't matter if it's the bowler's first or 20th, I'm always looking.

Hell yah I'm staying, I know most of the people on the league I bowl on, and if someone bowls a 300 I want to congratulate him or her.
