Back flares hit weight hole
« on: April 17, 2012, 02:58:54 PM »
Hello all,

I've recently decided to drill up a Marvel Solid for fresh heavier amounts of oil.  I have an Invasion with a 6" to pap without an x-hole and alot of times it just wasn't strong enough.  Anyways I have a 5 1/4" x 1/4" pap and I drilled the Marvel in a very aggresive 4 1/2 x 4 1/2 layout.  Now this is the first time I've put a weight hole on my VAL below my pap to try an increase flare.

Well, in a nutshell this is the strongest ball I've ever thrown and the sure enough the backflares hit the x-hole going within an inch or so of my ring finger.  It's freaking insane.   The reaction is really good and I don't want to change it, as I can use it as an oil buster in practice or whenever they are snot tight.  Is it that big a deal that the flares are hitting the x-hole?

I would plug and redrill it for two reasons.

1. Eventually, the hole is going to chip out and become damaged.

2. If it's hitting in the back flares, that means that it's hitting the hole as it's going through the pins. Ball in the air from hitting the hole = not good.
