What do you do with old bowling balls?
« on: October 22, 2009, 05:47:40 AM »
a. Sale them
b. Give them away
c. Keep them (If so why)
d. Throw them away (Garbage)

I have given most of mine away to friends for free. Actually only sold two balls and that was recently. I have only kept one ball that I currently don't use; that would be my Wild (Threw my one and only 300 with it).

Most of them are on a shelf, often in their original box.

I sold a few on eBay or for a small sum here, but for the most part, I've kept them for later use.  Let's face it...unless things have changed since the last time I threw a few lines, the stuff from the mid-80's is still working and the stuff from the past decade is still far stronger than is required on a house shot...

I give some stuff I don't care about away to youth programs at the local bowling center.

Everything else is in the garage and I rotate them in the bag and use them in my fun leagues.

There is a local girls high school bowling team around that I donate them to.

I sell some, keep some and give some away.  It all depends on how much I liked it.  I usually don't throw them out unless they are cracked.

I keep em..  Just for nostalgia or if I may need one in a pinch.  The only ball I threw away was my Brunswick Laser ball...  The 1st ball I ever bought & ever owned.  I really loved that cover & core combo.  Maybe a re-release is in order?

Are they in any kind of order? Alphabetically? Year? Manufacturer? Color?

sell some, give some to youth bowlers, and the really good ones get thrown off of Hurricane Gulch (halfway between Fairbanks and Anchorage)

Give them away locally, or sell them - sometimes.  If I can't give 'em away or sell them, there is a bridge I know that has seen upwards of 20 sail off it.  (they make a great splash when they hit water once as they hit and again when they hit bottom.  At least there are two distinct "geysers".)

Some I keep and throw every once in a while, others get donated to youth bowlers.

Some get dropped two stories on to a cement parking curb and split in half.

Leave at the Alley or throw them away.

I don't buy many new or used ball's anymore but whenever I have a few laying around that I don't have a need for I will either sell them for a small sum or donate them to a youth bowler. Only time I throw a ball in the dump is when it's cracked.

I usually trade for other equipment, but sometimes I donate them to the youth league.  I just brought (4) balls to the league last week.  Some of those kids whose parents can't afford to buy them decent equipment deserve it.

My son and friends get them long before they are old.
