Team entering Mid Season
« on: October 24, 2009, 06:52:41 AM »
We have the possibility of having a team or 2 join our league for rounds 2 and 3.  What percentage vote must be taken by the Board of Directors and Team Captains for this to be approved properly.  This will have an effect on the league schedule going forward and therefore I am under the impression that the vote at this point must be unanimous...am I correct ??

You only need a unanimous vote if you are changing the league rules.  If the number of teams is stated in the league rules, then the officers of the league (elected officers and team captains) will have to agree unanimously to allow more teams to join the league.

If the number of teams in the league is not written in the league rules, then a majority should suffice.

104d/2 What do we do if our league starts the season with an uneven number of teams
and a team is added during the season?
USBC recommends the board meet and choose one of the following options:
Option 1: The league allows the new team to make up the games unopposed and match the
scores with teams that previously bowled what was considered a nonexistent team.
Option 2: The entering team is not allowed to make up games and the position standings are
figured using a percentage basis.

If the league adds a new team during the season giving it an uneven amount of teams, the
league board has the following options:
Option 1: The entering team is not allowed to make up missed games and the position
standings are figured on a percentage basis.
Option 2: The league allows the new team to bowl against their averages in making up any
missed games.
Option 3: The league utilizes the draw system whereby the team bowling unopposed draws
another team in the league and their scores are compared with that team to earn points.
No matter which option the league chooses, the league’s schedule must be changed to reflect
the new number of teams now bowling in the league.

I think the question is how do you add a team, not what do you do once you agree to add one or more teams.  The information is great though because they will probably add the teams and this gives them some options when/if teams are added.
