Title: What do you like most about bowling?

Those of us that enjoy this game and sport so much. What keeps you playing it year after year.

 

I find enjoyment in the challenge of the game. I am not the most consistent at throwing, but enjoy trying to improve. I have alot of good friends that I bowl with that make it fun. My son just started bowling and I really like teaching him the game, watching him grow in the sport.

 

I enjoy watching others bowl.  The PBA and College teams  on TV. Also at the lanes; I will go in some nights and not bowl, just observe others bowling.

Don't think I can nail it down to one thing in particular.

 

The modern game is more informed with easy access to the physics and dynamics of bowling balls, lanes, lane oil patterns, shoes, grips, etc via the web. Video instruction is priceless.

 

Maybe siphoning through the hype makes the game interesting to me? Dunno really...

 

Many people think it is easier to bowl nowadays compared to say- twenty years ago.  I disagree. (See paragraph 2)

First of all, I love the competition! Secondly the camraderie and friendships that I have found, and built up over the years. thirdly, just learning new things about the sport in general. Finding different ways to get to the pocket, and carry.

And finally........drinking beer!

I love that thunder sound when my ball hits the pins...  1 of these day I am going to break 1....

I enjoy the challenge of bowling in different centers on different conditions, also bowling with friends.

The friends that I have made bowling, bowling with my team mates, competition, perfecting my release, enjoying the hunt for my second 800 series.

I continue to enjoy the competition of leagues and tournaments, being "with the guys", the constant effort to try and improve, and a real satisfaction in beating players half my age on a regular basis.

People----all people. Families coming in to bowl at the bowling alley. High school kids coming in for rock n bowl. League bowling. Tournament bowling. The personalities are varied and you see a reasonable cross section of people, money, religion, etc-----and they all come to do the same thing-----bowl. I love it.

For me, there are many aspects involved. One thing is for sure that bowling can be played "on your own" and in a team, and I enjoy both very much.

When I practice, I like to challenge myself, or just enjoy the "feeling" when I read the lane correctly, make proper adjustments, and either improve carry or stay "on line". It's the same when the lights are on in tournament or league.

Additionally, I like the maynfold aspects of the game, and how they work together. There's the physical aspect of proper execution, but also the mental game and the technical side to the sport. You have to combine these things in order to be a "good" player. I do not claim to be one (far from it), but understanding how things work together and learning how and where to turn the knobs is a big part of bowling's fascination for me.

There are far to many reasons to list.
It would be everything, from the people we get to hang with, to the sould it makes when your ball crushes the pocket. You just cant find a better sound.
