My ball doesn't match my style!!

I've a Wired, Time Zone, and a Silver Streak Pearl. But recently my ball speed increased, and it caused me problems bring the ball back to the pocket. All my ball have been drilled with pin postion above my fingers, only the location is different.

Now that my ball skids too far, should I dull my ball instead?

I don't think changing the cover would be the first thing I'd suggest. Have you tried taking a half step back in your stance ?
A few questions, do you know if your lane prep (oil) has changed much ? Is there a decreased time from the prep of the lanes to the time you bowl ? ( league or is it all the time/anytime you bowl?)
Have you changed any ball prep (cleaner/polish) to your balls before bowling ?
These can all make some changes in the action/reaction of the ball and if you change something, you have to expect some reaction changes .
I'd look at all these factors before just changing the cover.
Just my opinion.

I did my cleaning for the ball very often.. the oil patterns in the alley has changed, changed to a longer one. But i've asked my coach and friends to see, they did say my speed has increased. And it's not for just 1 trainings, but for everytime i'm on the lane.


I tried lowering the height of the ball at the approach, doesn't help much. still skid through.

Thought for quite some time, only dulling the ball will help. I've actually tried using Track Clean 'n' Dull, though it only dull a little on my Wired but I did see a little roll into the pocket and the carry seems better.

OK, if all those factors are about the same, then a Scotch Brite adjustment would be the next step I'd suggest.

If you have a coach, I'd ask him what the next step would be, as he's the one who knows you and your game better than I would, but ask him if a SB adjustment might work. Maybe across the bowtie?
Keep in mind, anything I suggest, you should check with your coach first, as I said, he sees you, I don't so he would be the best one to check with before changing anything.

Consulted my coach before. He said if I learn how to drop my speed, I might not be able to overcome dry conditions, so why not you take 1 of the ball and dull it, keep the others for dry conditions.

Sounds quite reasonable for me. because I was a rather slow speed bowler in the past. haha.

But dulling the surface, will it affect my balls life span ?

A ball must be a specific size. A resurface will take a very small amount of the ball away, but unless you get really wild in doing it, you can resurface a ball more times than most people will keep a ball.
Dulling it, then , as long as your coach suggested it, would be your next step. I would say, know your pro shop guys, if that's where you are going to have it done. My wife had a ball resurfaced a few years back, ( before I met her) and they left it on to long or didn't use water, something happened, they took out the serial numbers. Granted it is an Ebonite and they don't stamp the numbers as deep as some, but we had a heck of a time finding numbers and restamping them to keep her ball legal for tourneys.
If you are going to do it yourself, then you will know when you are getting close and not go to deep into the ball. It sounds like you are only going to make a mine cover adjustment, so there shouldn't be a big problem.

Yeah, i gonna make a cover adjustment, not really going into resurfacing. Currently I'm consulting my coach to actually coach my with some revs. So in future, just in case I've mastered using more revs, All I need is to shine up my ball.

Track Clean n Dull is really a good cleaner + oil remove. Dulls my surface too. Haha.

No profile and no specific locations...as someone else noted, that makes it difficult to answer the question.  

Pin over fingers can imply a lot of different potential ball reactions, some of which will never recover on a longer pattern no matter how much you work with surface changes.  When I think pin over fingers in relation to my drillings, that is usually a length drilling with the pin either directly over the bridge or even over towards the track...however, for others, pin over fingers can imply that the line between the pin and PAP is going to cross above the ring finger.  

Where is cg and MB?  That can also impact on the reaction you are seeing...

Learning to control your speed is essential to moving upwards...if you coach is telling you to be one dimensional (as evidenced by the comments about speed), then maybe it is time to look at other coaches.

How bout you stop trying to hook it so much, and move a board or 2 to the right.

That's the common adjustment for throwing the ball with more speed.

Bottom line, there's no need to make changes to your equipment just because you're throwing a little faster.
