What do you prefer, with or without?
« on: September 29, 2004, 12:20:53 PM »
Do you prefer grips or no grips? My personally, well I've come to the conclusion I like no grips better, and Im gonna try to get my stuff redrilled without them, and Im getting the next ball coming without them. What do you prefer? I think it gives me a cleaner release, do you prefer one or the other for a reason?

I'm going to try no grips on my next ball.

i tried no grips. but i think the holes are too big. My friend switched to no grips and he says dril it so its snug. Ill have to try putting tape in the fingers or on my fingers but other wise i still like grips.

a part of me wants no grips in the next ball but a part of me say im doing just fine why switch, i think im going to try it with out grips got nothing to loose, it might be a problem having 3 balls with grips and 1 with out cause if i take the grips out like dirtbike said probably 2 big

me i use a grip on my middle finger and no grip in my ring i like it cause my middle is kinda odd shaped and its hard to find a good fit on it and had a lot of blisters on middle its more normal i bevel the side a little and it fits grat

I went two years with grips in college, didn't like them for 4 years after college, went back to them in 1998 and have enjoyed them ever since. No thumb slug for me though...

no grips. I have been converted to a sharp bevel believer.

there are pros and cons to for each preference.

cons for no grips.

  • sharp bevel

  • No wearin and tear. so it feels the same on day 1 as it will at the end of the year.

  • they never fall out

  • smaller bridge mean the fingers are closer and it feels more natural to me

  • I can feel the pitches better. I have mine 1/4 and 3/8th away

  • cheaper to punch up a ball

  • If I drill up a new legends ball with the diamond particles, I might use finger and thumb slugs.

I am a grip man, used to be no grips but i am to lazy to try with out again. Have a thumb slug only if it needs it.

Well I have no grips in my plastic ball, and I get a lot smoother release with it, thats why I say I wanna try this with a reactive ball. I dont get quite as many revs, but thats perfectly ok with me, plus I hang up in grips bad so I think this should help.

    Without sounding too bad...

I am a reconverted no finger insert guy. I started bowling befor the advent of finger inserts. Bowled using them for many years. Then last year, I took them out and went back to just holes.

My point is I dont like condoms either. Its all about feel.
