Our home town only has one 16 lane house. We run a city tournament which people really get all excited about. Winning city titles is a way to pad your resume' in order to get into the city Hall of Fame.
Because of the small number of teams, the association decided several years ago to let you bowl on three different teams as long as you change out two of the bowlers.
I happen to think this is unfair and I've never bowled more then one team. If you take the top 7 or 8 bowlers and just change them out, sooner or later, one of teams will win even though they never bowl together in league.
I made a suggestion to a friend that I thought that you should only be able to win a "so called" title if it's your first team. You can win the tournament and get the money but no recognition of a city title unless it's your first team. Therefore, you could have two guys bowl on a second team, win it, but not be able to claim a title whereas the three other bowler who are bowling their first team could claim a "City Title".
I know it sounds crazy but I just don't think it's right to rack up the city titles because of a crap shoot. I'm sure that if I took myself and the top 5 or six bowlers to choose from, I'd have a chance to win it every year but I don't feel it's right so I only bowl with a team that I bowl with in league.
What are your thoughts?
