To plug a ball...

Well it is like this... I'm not using a couple of balls and read here some things about cracked balls because of not using them for a while. If I plug and leave them without re-drilling for a while can I avoid cracking problems? I want another layout in them too but plan on drilling them about next 2011, obviously don't want to leave them in the closet and find them cracked someday. Thanks for all comments in advance.

If they are going to crack, they are likley going to do it plugged or not.  Massive temp swings seems to be the greatest cause of cracking...

Try storing the balls in a plastic bag, like the one they come in new.  Out of all of the balls I have had that cracked, all of them were exposed to air.  None of my balls in bags have cracked yet (knock on wood).

Plug normally doesn't make the ball crack. The ball will crack around the plug. Regardless, if done correctly, plug will last the life of the ball. However, if your ratio of plug to hardener is off the the plug will crack out. Example, too much hardener, or too much mixing of your filler and hardener will do that.
Storage should be in a room that will be unaffected by outside temperatures. Or you could leave it unplugged and plug it when you decide to drill it.
