what do you think of the music at your center?
« on: August 05, 2007, 09:09:43 AM »
I know its a very open ended question, but i'm sure the responses will be quite varied.

Do they use cds, a jukebox, satelite radio, regular fm radio, etc?

Is the selection good?

if you could change anything about it, what would it be?

They have a computer wired to the internet with some sort of music player.  They've got a few songs, but seeing as there's only 6 employees at the alley (50 lanes though)  they keep a few favorites from each employee, and a few of the latest tunes.  I would change it so there is more Springsteen, or course!

There's a jukebox at the alley that random people play.

We have a "touchtunes internet jukebox" that plays throughout the center whenever there isn't any league going on.  I personally hate the thing.  It's $1 for "2 plays."  It's one play each song for the ones actually downloaded onto the local computer, but if you have to use the internet's database, it costs you 2 plays, or $1 for a song.  The worst part of it is, any internet jukeboxes I've played in the past, you pay $1 to download the song, but then it's downloaded onto the local jukebox, so you don't have to pay $1 each time you play it... this jukebox doesn't do that.  And then, depending on the time you come in, the whole local database changes and songs that you just played an hour before won't even appear on the internet database.  It's horrible.  It says it has "gazillions" of songs, but there have been about 15 bands so far that they don't have.

Our Thurs scratch league has music and it varies in type.  I only know of one league member that is not pleased to have the music on, so he's outvoted.  They play a variety of music from Southern Rock, older rock and some not so junky contemporary rock.  No rap, no hip hop.

Our center where I bowl Wed night, plays music for the Jr leagues and open play times, but not always.  During adult leagues its off.

I personally like having the music on.

The house I bowl at in the summer has XM Satellite Radio and they play Classic Rock that gets drowned out as soon as 46 teams of trios start practice

I personally don't like music in centers, but that's something that I get is used to get people in the center.  I'd like to see it only during cosmic, but I can handle it during practice if it's not overly loud.  Our Friday handicap league actually uses it during league, which I really disagree with, but getting people to band together to tell the center they don't want it is nearly impossible, not enough care probably.  Sometimes they really crank it, and if your pair is under the speakers it's quite disturbing.....usually then a mass of people run up to the desk to tell them to turn it down.  The music itself is like a mixture, some current hip hop, some disco, kind of hard to predict.

2 of the centers I bowl in use FM RADIO. THe other one I bowl in has XM and CD's that they will play. Normally the music changes from Classic to Country. Some bowlers have brought CD's to have played.

I do not mind music being played during bowling. I just do not like it really loud. I still want to be able to talk with my teammates without having to yell over music.

Music should not be played while in a league. I would consider it a distarction and request that it be turned off per USBC rules about outside interference. If you want to hear music while bowling, wear an Ipod, just don't leave it laying around for someone to steal.

Doesn't bother me, but I would also prefer it at a lower level during league in order to hold a conversation without yelling.

Super Bowl uses Satellite Radio I can't stand the music they play its Rap, Country or Pop

If they would play Heavy Metal or Rock I might Bowl better than I already do

Only wish they wouldn't play the music during league play it is just an old Pet Peeve of mine I rarly hear it but it drives me nuts when I do.
