What do you use for dry lanes?

Okay, here's the deal.  I need a ball for dry, toasted lanes.  I'm a HUGE track fan, but have read mixed reviews on the Dry Heat.  It may be time for me to try something different.  What do you use for such conditions and how did you drill it?  Thanks!

Pin next to ring, not sure about the cg since it's not here with me.

This ball is what I needed to cover dry lanes and when the heads are scorched. It is the perfect dry lane ball.

in the last year I have used the following on toast:

Ball        Drilling                 Finish        results
V2 Dry      Pin in ring cg in palm.  2000 pol.     Can go up teh track area.

Blade Pearl Pin above bridge         2000 pol.     deep lines. hook reaction
.
Blue Pearl Urethane  Hammer  
           Pin In                    1500 pol      up the boards



For a liight oil a Sling blade with the cg kicked out has been good to me.

Dynothane polished Barrage, pin in, pin and CG in palm.  It has replaced urethane for me.

Used to be an Attack Zone R.  Now that I seem to have lost it, though, one of two balls.  A Track Magic that I got used, or a Beast with about a 4" pin, polished and drilled pin over ring, that I gave to someone that they just gave back.

I used to try to use the Black Messenger for dry, but it flares and hooks too much for that.

I have 4 letters 4 you: XXXL.  It is the only polyester/plastic ball with a real weight block that adds hitting power to a very tame cover.  This not only acts as a dry lane ball, but a spare balls, thus allowing it to cover the spot of 2 balls.  Mine is drilled 4x4, with the pin even and right of ring, and cg stacked under pin.  When I use it lots of people don't believe that I am throwing plastic because of its hit and carry power.

The Slate Blue Gargoyle is ideal for dry lanes. (see my profile for my style) I traded a Threat for mine and it has really helped me beat the dry pattern that seems to be everywhere I bowl these days. Of course you will leave some soft 10's now and again because it's a urethane, but the payoff of being in the pocket all night is well worth it. I used it subbing this weekend and shot some outragious numbers with it playing up 10 (left an 8-10 during the set, highly unusual for me). Usually I'm playing 6th arrow on a shot like that........

Your probably doing to laugh at me, but for me, its tried and true. I throw a Urethane Columbia Scout, pin dead center of palm! But I have a Monster SlayR getting drilled up for me pin up and right of ring, cg out right.

For true dry lanes:

I have a Sonic-X solid drilled 5 3/4" x 4 1/2", pin above the bridge, sanded to 200 grit and gloss polished. This is NOT a ball for dry lanes unless you have VERY high ball speed. Mine is about 17 mph at the arrows and this ball gets to 35 feet at best and then hooks hard. (The pearl version may be better; I cannot say.) This ball is for medium-light oil patterns, at best.

The Dyno-Thane Barrage clears the heads and midlane much better and hooks much less at the backend even with a label drilling, with the pin  below the bridge and 4" x 5" drilling.

Well i purchased a Wild for dry lanes.. Holy crap.. The Wilds hook is under-rated. This ball will hook on oil, and 4 times has harder on dry.

Have a SonicX, with a slight stacked leverage drill, and some Black Magic polish on it. Works well for me except on "total toast". Then I go to a plastic ball.

How are you Sonic X user's keeping it on the lane when it's dry??  I had mine out on dry for the first time on Monday, and I was throwing it at the 4th arrow and it was hooking into the left gutter!!  Mines drilled pin at 1:30 close to ring, CG middle of palm -- does this make a difference?  I want to use mine on medium as well, so I don't want to redrill just for dry.....I'll keep the Burgundy Hammer for that!!!
