Just curious to see how many people use a thumb sock instead of tape. I'm not taking about the thumb saver that goes around the whole hand, just the one that slides over the thumb. Is it comfortable? Does it stay on? Is it worth it?

i used to use the tape but i got tired of spending $20 a roll i use the thumb sock now for about 2 years and i love it it lasts for awhile and i have no issues with it at all i would never go back to tape. you should give it a try

What size did you order? I'm on the fence of either larger or xlarge. Don't want it to loose but also don't want it super tight.

i ordered a large its a little tight at first but loosens up. i wouldnt go with the xl i think when it loosens up it will be way to big. everyone i know that uses it has a large

I use a thumb sock. It allows me to get in and out of a tight thumb hole cleanly. I would compare the sock to black slick tape, except with the added bonus of no direct skin contact. My current thumb hole is super tight compared to any I've had before, but with the thumb sock on I have no fears of hanging in the ball.
I've got small thumbs, and the large fits me very well. In about a year of use, I am still on my first pair of thumb socks, so they hold up very well. I've never had one come remotely close to coming off, as they fit skin tight and require a good pull to get off.
My only suggestion would be not to use a rough tape (white grip tape) directly next to the sock. I tried white tape for a little while before I had the thumbs drilled a bit smaller, and the rough tape can shorten the socks lifespan a good bit.

Do you use the Brunswick brand? There is another brand on eBay also that looks pretty popular. I think the guys name is SteveO that sells them.

Yes I use the Brunswick brand. I bought a 2 pack last summer just to give them a try, and am still using that original 2 pack. I had never seen the BTS -Bowling Thumb Sock brand before, however they do look interesting. They have a couple different styles that may give a different or better feel for some. Either way, I personally recommend giving the thumb socks a try. They've worked very well for me.

For me the socks are very slick. Much slicker than just using the vise hadda patch. The cotton is a litter slower release but still slick. They do make one that has a hole on the thumb pad and another that leaves the tip open. Both of these allow a slower release but tend to sometimes roll up when inserting the thumb.
