what does a lot of top weight and a long pin mean?

not a guru or anyything but a ball i am interested in has a 3.5 oz top weight and 3 inch pin. is this bad?
lets face it... this isnt deadlifting or picking up women.. its BOWLING!!!! Stop acting tough when you roll 4 strikes in a row!!!

that's not a long pin or a lot of top weight. I've seen 6-7 pin balls. My friend actually owns a ball with over 10 oz of top weight.

That ball's fine.

I actually prefer something with at least a 4 inch pin because I've got a high rev rate.

It will be easier for your driller to lay this ball out with a pin up layout, especially if you prefer not to have a balance hole.  If you don't mind large balance holes, most anything is OK.  --  JohnP

That spec is what I ask for with every ball. That is first quality specs

Are there articles out there that explain the impact of top weights and pin placements?  I am new to bowling and I only have a vague understanding of these things.
