Wood lane transition... learned something tonight
« on: January 02, 2006, 03:26:08 PM »
The past two weeks in my league the lane mechanic oils and strips the lanes about 45 minutes before the start of our league. I've also noticed that its been a little warmer than normal inside the center during those same two weeks. The way the oil transitions can be different than if the lanes are dressed in the morning and the oil is given a chance to settle in for the day.

Tonight I decided to start with my Diablo when the back ends were fresh and in the middle of game two when the ball was nosediving I changed to my RoboRule which cut through the carrydown nicely and also didn't seem as jumpy at the back. Turned out that my high game for the night would be my last game.

So often what you think would work on one night is not the way to play the lanes. I saw many bowlers tonight struggling with ball reaction in games two and three as they went with more polished equipment or weaker equipment. Sometimes you have to do the opposite to achieve better results.
