MN Bowlers...
« on: March 06, 2008, 09:21:50 AM »
Not sure if i post this here or in the regional part...o well...

I'm just curious where ppl from MN get their balls drilled by,

Right now, im going to Adam Apo right in rochester Mn, and i am very happy right now, prices are not outrageous,
1st time i went it was a little more, but thats what u expect.
I myself, i prefer to find a proshop and find someone i trust and i work with him on what equipment i should get to make an reasonable ball line.
1st ball i went to him, said i want an Heavy Oil Ball, ended up with an
Nvs, i paid 225 which i thought was spendy, but i let it go i just wanted a new ball and try something, he worked with me and we changed around my span a lil, and gave my thumb some forward pitch, and i am way more comfortable with that.
After that i bought a Widow Pearl at 220, which i know was over priced, than i went with a RAmpage, for 150 and that wasnt to bad of a deal. Next i got a Widow for 200 even and a rapid fire 150 even. So prices are coming down, and my scores have been pretty consistent till i pinched my psyatic nerve, i had 10 700's in a 2 month span, and just been consistent around 650. Averaging 225, just im all around happy right now. So now im lookin at a fury offering me 150 drilled so that seams reasonable, a ball i have hear some good reviews on.

So thats my pro shop,

But i was wondering in mn, who would ppl recommend for ball drillers,
Ive heard Don White, and the on track pro shop are very good, i am also wondering whats typical prices from a pro shop people get, im wondering if im getting ripped or not, like i know i can buy a rapid fire in bowling.com for like 115, so i felt i got a good deal on that. Just anyone was anyone has any input, i would appreciate it.

Thanks

Dean Solberg in Preston is pretty good.  He has
all the tools, but he works out of House.  I am
very happy with the work he has done for me.  He
charges what ever the book price is, then takes
20% off then adds $20 to drill, $10 for inserts,
and $15 for a slug.  It equals out to about what
the listed price is.  I recently had an internet
ball drilled with inserts and a slug for $68.
Also, Gene at rec lanes is good; however, he
will be off for a while because he was recently
diagnosed with throat cancer.
I have also had balls drilled in LaCrosse at
Ghelfi's pro shop.  He also is pretty good and
has about 400 balls in stock.  The last ball I
had drilled there was $37 with inserts and a slug.
He did mess up the thumb on my Action Max, which
Dean is going to fix.
That's all the drillers I have ever worked with.
Any questions send me a message.
