What does you sec/treasure make?
« on: August 22, 2003, 12:18:26 AM »
WE are having a vote on how much money the Guy running the secretary and treasurer  job is going to make. The league doubled and he wants double but they have decided to research it first.

Help me out. what is fair for 32- 5 man teams. trimester format.

The way every league I have ever heard of does it is that they pay X number of dollars per team. I have seen it range from $12 per team all the way up to $35 per team.

The average amounts I usually see are $15-$20 per team. At $15 he would be making $430. That seems like plenty to me. I would use $15 as a starting point. Have the league vote from there. It is very difficult because I do not know what he was making previously.

As long as you are RESEARCHING IT .. check the CENTER .. MOST AMF CENTERS do secretarial work for a MINIMAL CHARGE (some places FREE) .. you may even have a BOWLER that has the program available and will do it FREE .. Not a BIG DEAL with the right SOFTWARE!!

we did 17.50 a team which was an increase of .25 cents a team over the previous year.  I was not in the league prior to that, but they made it seem as if he probably gets about a quarter more a year per team.  I am thinking I will wait about 20 years and then try to wrestle the job away from him.  LoL kidding.  I don't think I would want to do it.

Many of the leagues that I have bowled in pay the secretary and or treasurer on a per bowler basis (10 cents per bowler per night for example).  In this scenario or in Excaliber's scenario of paying per team, if the size of the league doubles, the fee paid also doubles.

Ours gets  $100 pro-shop credit and $100. He is really good, very detail oriented. He buys a ball every two years and what he doesn't use from the $200 credit he puts back to the league.

I may need more help here.

the house charges for secretary duties but he still has some.
he mostly has treasury duties.

so for a (32) 5 man team how much for being a assistant to the house for secretary duties. and how much for being the treasurer.

right now he is asking for about 1600. is this fair?

I will be printing this out and tacking it to the meeting for reference.
so if know league size and any stats that could help. I'm sure there is going to be a lot of "Discussion"

In our 16 team league the secretary gets $600 and the treasurer gets $225, which is in line with the $1,600 he's seeking for a 32 team league.  From what I've seen posted by the others we may be a little high, but ironically, the secretary/treasurer pay is probably the only thing that doesn't spark an argument at our annual meeting.

Keep in mind, 32 teams generates a lot of weekly recap sheets, ABC applications and honor scores to be submitted.  And if someone or a group of bowlers are complaining about the expense, nominate them for the position at whatever pay they deem worthy.  Then $1,600 should pass with no problem.  Good luck.

sorry Joe,

32 teams 5 men a team = 160 bowlers

160 x 35weeks = 5600 possible reconcillations

I would say that you would want to max out somewhere around 25 cents per bowler per week for both secretary and treasurer.  The split would be something like 15 cents for secretary and 10 cents for treasurer.  That would put you at $1,400 for the year.

I receive $ .35 every week for every bowler whether in they are in attendence or not.

All of the other league secretaries in our house receive $ .50 per bowler. The members of my league are all dual members of the Pchee2 Cheap Bowler Club.

26 5-man teams
Secretary - $25 per team.   $650 total
Treasurer - $20 per team.   $520 total
33 week season

Been that way for the past 9 years with no increase.

Like someone else wrote, how much was he making ?

Only thing ours do is turn in honor scores. The house does all the work and the banking.

I must say the replies so far have been interesting.  At our league meeting, they tried to increase the secretary/treasurer fees to 0.75 per bowler per night but that was shot down so it remains at 0.60 which for 24 teams comes out to just under $2600 for the season.

Last season it seemed that we were paying about average but so far from these replies we might be high.
