What does your house give you?
« on: May 06, 2007, 10:20:48 AM »
Just wondering what houses do for honor scores?  The one house I bowl in gives 100 dollars for a 300 game, and a framed certificate for 300, 800, or 11 in a row.  Not sure if the other house I bowl in does anything or not, nothing for my 299 earlier this season.  I personally think the 100 dollars should go for 800 series instead of 300 games, but it's very generous of them nonetheless, and this is a house where a lot of honor scores are shot.  Kind of an old tradition they've kept up with, that I'm not sure many other houses do these days, and can't really blame them.  Who else gets money or anything else, and what are they.  Just interested.

They change the shot for a couple of weeks so we don't get our egos too big.

Years ago, AMF gave me a crystal clock for a 300.  None of the houses around here give you anything that I know of.  The Winston Salem association doesn't give you anything, but the Greensboro association gives a nice jacket for a 300.  Unless they put out a tough shot, I can't believe some of the awards I'm reading here for the 300's.

A pat on the back and your name added to the honor score board for the year.

Back in the late 90's AMF was giving out prizes for the first 300 / 800 you threw in a given season.  They gave a bowler a small acrylic trophy and certain $ amount that they could spend by ordering bowling items direct from AMF, though you could get other manufacturer's equipment.  The program last for 3 years or so.

Grief.

The last house I bowled at prior to moving to Georgia used to give two pitchers of beer and a 300 jacket. They had to stop with the beer for legal reasons I believe.

The highest average bowler in the league distracts
you with congrats, while the lowest average bowler
steals your ball.

Not a damn thing-although they'll announce it if you ask them. Are all AMF houses like this? In the Brunswick house where I used to bowl it was $250 for 1st 300 and $400 for first 800.

My house only gives a lousy 50 dollar gift certificate to the proshop.

One house I bowl at, if you shoot 300 in a winter league you get your lineage paid for in a winter league of your choice the following season, and $300 for an 800. Max one of each a season. They also put your name up on the "Wall of Fame"

The lineage thing is nice, especially when lineage is 11.95 a week.

I bowl in a BRUNSWICK owned house, which gives a 300 plaque and depending on
the season either a spring jacket or bowling shirt with a Brunswick 300 club emblem.
