What does your THS arsenal look like?
« on: March 31, 2010, 10:22:47 AM »
Hi all,
I see this argument all the time.
"I keep one ball!"
"I keep 2 balls!"
"I keep 10 balls!"

I don't think there is an especially right or wrong answer but I try to offer a perspective on why you carry what you carry, i.e., understanding your arsenal, in the following article:

Let me know what you think.
Thanks

Depends which house I am bowling in. Different balls for different houses. Balls are listed in my profile.

Don't get me wrong, I can hit the pocket and throw a few strikes with anything on a house shot (especially a fresh shot before it gets broken down and wet/dry as hell). Carrying well enough to string strikes and win jackpots, however, is another story!

I bowl in two different houses during the winter and regularly sub in a third, and the shot never plays the same two weeks in a row at two of the houses, and at the third it breaks down completely differently every week depending on who you're crossing with and what the weather is like that day.  Some days I need something as strong as my Cell to give me a consistent reaction, while other days I need my Reign just to get through the front part of the lane.  So yeah, it's annoying packing five balls with me to league every night.  However, I usually end up using all five at some point in one week and have more than paid for each ball in the amount of jackpot money I've won.  I'd say it's worth it.

In use now

Total Bedlam - pin under bridge
Pure Swing - pin under bridge
Mission - pin under bridge
Black Widow Nasty - pin over bridge
505A - pin right of ring - stacked
Black Widow Spider spare ball

I throw what I feel like throwing. I have been using the TB a lot, it is an awesome ball. Just got the Pure Swing and I have not thrown it yet, but I did throw one in a Ebonite Demo - I was very impressed.

For me, right now I've got:
Ebonite Mission OOB finish
Storm Furious 2000gr with light polish
Columbia Freeze OOB
Storm Natural OOB

For the wetter conditions, the Mission is starting to shine.  For the tough dry or over/under conditions, Natural is simply fantastic!
