OK, let's see if I can keep this short...
I'm 17 now. When I was 15 I averaged 189 using 16lb equipment
I then fractured my right (bowling) wrist two summers ago playing basketball and my average dipped to 173. This year, I have brought my average back over 190, but a couple of weeks ago, when trying to get a ball to turn on the carrydown, I "overrevved" (if that's a word) the shot and reaggravated the wrist injury. I went for X-rays, (negative, thank God,) and the sharp pain I had went away, but now I am left with this dull throbbing the morning after I bowl a good 8-10 games. (I do travelling tourneys)
So here's a couple things I've been thinking...
One, I bowl 16lbers, and I've done so since I was 11. I did pick up a 15lb Heat II from a friend and bowled fairly well with the ball (considering it has 4 plugs and has easily 300 games on it). So I thought about this for awhile, and will probably try to bowl 15lbers for the next couple of weeks and see if that helps my wrist and overall bowling (My speed and hitting my target has been inconsistent as of late). Does anyone have any input on whether this has happened to them before, or any thoughts? I know it's probably cliched, but do you guys actually see differences using 15 vs. 16 (or vice versa) and if so, what are they?
And secondly, do you guys think a wrist guard (not a leather pad, I mean the whole enchilada) would be beneficial to my wrist, and are this large wrist guards more condusive to a crankers game or a strokers game, or somewhere in between.
Any input on a weight change and wrist guard would be appreciated. Thanks guys.
