What finger inserts do you use?
« on: January 03, 2004, 07:55:18 AM »
Just curious on what everyone else uses and how they feel about their inserts...

I use Tenth Frame, but I can't get good clean revs on the ball all the time, and may go to Vise inserts soon because I hear they help revs...

I know people out there use Vise, Contour, Turbo, 10th Frame, etc. so I was curious to see what inserts are used in majority and what people's opinions are...

vise grips are THE brand of grips to use. they are the only ones that come in half sizes for that perfect fit.

I haven't tried the vise grips before.  I personally use Tenth Frame and occasionally use Turbo.

Vise Grips, and take it a step further, try the Vacu Grips.  They are really nice from ball to ball, very snug, same feel.  That's what I have changed to.

I use both 4 in 1 Turbo Quads and Vise Grip. I use the power lift side on the turbo quads on both the middle and ring fingers and on the Vise Grips, I use the power lift on middle finger and oval on ring finger.

Guess what guys, even if you need the half sizes from Vise, it doesn't make one whole helluva  lot of difference. Really. I used to be like most of you, loved one brand: Pro Sports Contour Power grip. Recently I've tried Turbo 2-N-1 and Quads and Vise grips (thought the half sizes would be good for me. Yes, they are but not essential.)

As long as you use the right size, and they do "size" differently, there is little practical difference betwene the feel of them, as long as you stick to your preferences: oval or lifters, firm or soft. I prefer soft ovals. They all feel fine. Just a tiny matter of an open mind and an equally tiny bit of getting used to each. No big whoop!

Charlest, I may be wrong here, but I think the Vise Grip's power lift side has a larger angle then the Turbos. If you look in side of each, they appear to have more taper. On ovals, I agree with you in that I don't think it matters what brand a person uses.

Sorry about that; that could very well be true. Actually, that's condescending to say. Since you say it, I assume it is true.

HOWEVER,
since all a lift insert does  (or is supposed to do) is to add 1/4" forward pitch, if I wanted forward pitch, I'd ask my driller to drill the finger hole with forward pitch and still use an oval insert, since it more properly fits the finger surface. There's less likelihood of damaging my finger with prolonger use and producing a blood blister.

Vise in some balls, Turbo quads in others. No real preference for me, I love them both.

I use Pro Sport Contour Grips, 'cause I'm a cheap bowler. Oh sorry, that was redundant, wasn't it?
