Today, i finally got to go the the stinkin pro shop, and so i dropped off my stuff. I have two drilled up, 4 are being plugged and redrilled. Well i had the proshop guy check my pitches and the likes, and i was watching him as he wrote stuff and i need pitch in every way possible, plus a slightly offset thumb. BUT, the reason for this is, i found out i've grown a freakin LOT since i last had something drilled (probably september, or whenever leagues started). My old span (which was on my power groove), was about 4 1/2. Well i came in, expecting just to have to switch the thumb slug for a new one, but he tells me that i'll have to have it plugged. Why? Apparently, i've grown enough to change my span to 4 3/4 and 4 13/16. Wow. That's a pretty big difference. But I did throw a couple shots, and though the thumb was slightly big (on purpose, i put tape in), it felt really nice. My finger holes (gripless) aren't beveled much, and i kind of like it, so i can't really hit up on it. Goes with the "less is more" theory i suppose. But now, with my proper grip, i know when i'm doing something wrong, because my hand will sure let me know.
I'll give you further reports tommorrow, after i throw some games in league. But the moral of the story is......Forget layouts, forget coverstocks, THE most important thing, bar none, is a proper fit. As if you didn't all know that, but I'm living proof.
