What Happened?
« on: February 12, 2004, 08:53:23 AM »
Last night, late league, I was playing my Vendetta up 7 and doing OK.  Couple of 10s, a 4, a 9, but was carrying high flush - 217.  Next game started to go high so I moved 1 left with my feet - Bucket.  Left lane, same spot, 5 pin.  Move back to original spot, 4-6-7.  Move 2 - 2 right, bucket.  My teammates are experiencing the same thing, even the guy throwing an Anomaly with slow speed and lots of revs.

The house has wood lanes, usually has house wall outside 8, but last night seemed to transition into something else.  I was the only one playing outside on 7, everybody else was 10 or inside of 10.  I got out my Thing, moved 7 boards left with my feet and targeted 10, a little tug was nose or brooklyn. Hit the target and sometimes left a bucket or flat 10.  Last 2 games were in the 170's.

Would this be carrydown?  Outside of 12? I couldn't figure it out.

Hi D,

Actually it sounds like you had residue or light oil outside 12, did the house change the oil? Did they forget to strip that day?  There are many variables to list.  Was there any open play on your pair before you?  Plastics can do strange things to a normal shot.  The recommendation I usually make is when you see a squirrely shot like this, pull out something soft enough to overpower the spottiness.  If you're still not carrying, you might want to consider another strong ball with more backend for conditions such as these.  Always trust your reaction, if you're not hooking from where you normally hook, then I'd say there was oil/residue out there.  Hope this helps some....
