I was asked this question recently when I was in a coaching session. Was throwing a Cell, hand sanded to 1000 Abralon, but with a few games on it so it wasn't looking super dull anymore. I was asked if I had anything that hooked more, which I didn't, but afterwards I was thinking of the question in the title. Any thoughts from the BR.com community?
P.S. I assume they meant overall hook, but not sure, as I said I thought about this after I had left the session and was downloading what was discussed and thinking about it in my mind.
P.P.S. Sorry for the add, just want to add, I bowl a few PBA regionals so can we limit this to PBA approved equipment. If I do get something, I want to be able to use it at Regionals, so this removes something like Visionary AMB Particle, which may have been one answer to this.

Just my opinion (clearly more hook than a Cell):
900G Bounty Hunter
AMF Mega Friction
Visionary Ogre Particle
Several MoRich balls, haha
Maybe more hook (drilling and person specific):
Storm Virtual Gravity
Roto Grip Rogue Cell

The Seige would be a very good choice.

I have both the Gamebreaker and the Cell, I could not believe the difference between the two on the house shot I bowl at. The gamebreaker at 2000 grit (no polish) hooked more for me than the Cell at the same finish. I have to say I carried better with the Cell at 1000 grit compared to the Gamebreaker at that surface adjustment, but the Gamebreaker was not as consistant at the 1000 grit.

You have to qualify your question to what type of lane condition your are bowling on. On a THS, my experience has been that there are too many balls to name that hook more then the cell. On a heavy oil shot, like the Southern Match shot at our house or the USBC pattern, the Cell will roll earlier and cover more boards then most balls, although you never see the turn left that you see with a say a Virtual Gravity on a THS off the dry.
Just my thoughts, based on my experience with the Cell.

Those that can do. Those that can't complain. Pimpin ain't easy, but it's mandatory.

Any Golf ball I hit with my driver.
Oh wait, thats not relevant, i'd say safe bets are Mega Friction, and Bounty Hunter. Other balls that can depending on how the backends are would be Virtual Gravity, Rouge Cell, Black Widow Sting. Sometimes a Cell will be weaker than the others due to it being so early on the lanes, and the more angular solids may outhook it but not on a consistent basis across all patterns.

"What hooks more then a Cell?"
A Cell sanded to 4000 grit Abralon.
Are you sure you need more hook? or a better placed hook/breakpoint.

My Virtual Gravity drilled similarly, outhooks my Cell by a good 3 or 4 boards on both house shots and the Nationals pattern.

the mega friction is hands down the most aggressive ball out there currently

Only throw the good stuff, Roto/Global.

Yeah, I really hate the discussion of "Ball X hooks more than Ball Y" and so forth. You can certainly discuss what balls can handle more oil, and what balls have more hook "potential," but it doesn't necessarily play out in the real world because of the ever-changing combination of oil and friction. My Cell is a much stronger ball than my Spit Fire, but I cover more boards with my Spit Fire when there's anything resembling dry boards out there, since the Cell will roll far too early and burn up. However, on soupy conditions, the Cell will still pick up a hard roll and hook a good bit while the Spit Fire will go straight for 59 feet. For me on a house shot, a sanded pearl will almost always hook more than anything solid simply because it doesn't burn up as quickly when it gets into the dry area of the lane. Or even on the Scorpion pattern after a game or two, I can move inside and swing 15 to 8 with a sanded Gravity Shift while my Cell burns up at my feet.

Very good answer from Dan. Sure, you can take a high differential ball, drill it leverage and sand the surface to 200 grit. It will definitively "hook" more. Imagine an Immortal Solid with such a setup. You might not be able to make it touch a pin at all unless you throw it 50' down the lane.
But IMHO, "overall" hook is a misleading concept to judge a ball. You need a ball that finally gets into a stable forward roll and that creates proper entry angle. How many boards it actually crosses is IMHO secondary, unless you have to compensate for something...

Yes, some people have to swing it all over the place...

Here are a couple of suggestions of what would hook more than The Cell.
1- The Virtual Gravity at 1000 abralon. I have 2 of these and both of them are totally sick.
2- The Dimension at 500 or 1000. Even though the Cell and Dimension seem to roll alike, and are thought to pretty much be the same idea as far as what the ball is supposed to do, they are not alike at all. I had both of these and when I threw the Cell it hooked but layed off in the backend, while the Dimension had more continuation through the pins.
3- The Rogue Cell seems to be strong to the point where I think that with the right surface and layout, it could actually outhook the original Cell.
4- Brunswick Maxx Zone. I saw my buddy throw this ball with a few different layouts on it and WOW! I started out throwing Brunswick, but then tried Storm and been shooting and scoring good so Storm is all I use now.
5- The Widow Bite. Some people might disagree with me on this one but my buddy throws this ball and let's just say that I am very impressed with this ball. Too bad its on the list of balls that is being discontinued!!
Well, I might even have a few more, but I would think you would only be allowed to use so much space per reply on here. LOL. Check out a couple of these and let me know what you think, and also what you have decided.

I have gotten to bowl on the Shark pattern plus the USBC shot, BJ, BTM and 123 tourneys in the last couple of weeks and the Cell is the best oil ball I've thrown. At oob it out digs the Rogue, Virtual and Siege and Maxx Zone. This does not meen that it out hooks them but just reads the pattern, makes it's move and carries. I have left only 3 ten pins in the last 40 games or so on a sport pattern.

Thanks for the responses. Let me answer or clarify based on the questions:
This was on the USBC shot at a different center. The Cell I was throwing was 1000 Abralon, but with about 20-30 games on it. It is drilled quite strong, pin under ring, CG kicked right a little, I believe we used a 75 deg total angle (but don't quote me on that one). It is usually a fine oil ball and I never had any questions, until the coach asked me this. It just got me to wondering, as I always considered the Cell to be one of the best oil balls for most people, myself included. I just wanted to get other's opinions on this.
