TwoHand,
Very interesting thoughts. I am like you. I have shot a lot of 300's and 800's and I don't consider myself anything more than an above-average house hack. You got me thinking....and what impresses me is not usually tied to scores at all. I am impressed when I see a bowler who can consistently hit there marks (at the arrows, at the breakpoint) shot and after shot. While not tied to the score themselves, I am impressed by bowlers who can consistently post good scores (190's 200+) on challeging patterns (Sport Patterns, PBA Patterns). Next I might look at tournament performance, such as Matt McNeil at the USBC's, or the person who wins their local tournaments on Sports or challenging patterns. I think it is more impressive to average 205 bowling on Sports Patterns than to average 240 on a house shot with multiple 300's and 800's. Now, I won't take anything away from a bowler who does the latter, you still must be a good bowler to do that....it just doesn't impress me.
