I'll agree with Scolai on this one: PBA TOC. 180 on a reverse block is pretty normal, but as the TOC pattern broke down, it ate me alive. More practice is needed there.

The flat oil patterns once they break down are a real challange.  They aren't bad for the first 2-3 games, but as they break down and the carry down hits your breakpoints, nightmare time.  For the first 2-3 games though, very playable.

We have one house in town that was a good house for years then the owners turned it into a family entertainment center for about 10 years. The new owner are trying to make it a bowlers house again but, the 10 years of abuse have given the lanes a distinct playing pattern no matter how you oil the lanes. It becomes a reverse crown. The closer to the gutter you play the less it hooks, the closer to the center the more it hooks. Best way to play is point it of the corner with speed and little rotation.

I'd say the US Open pattern if it's on a high friction surface - especially guardian

I wasn't a fan of the Viper in the PBAX league I bowled in a couple of summer's ago either. I got a severe over/under reaction on it.

I'd say the true Reverse block, were it's dry from 10-10, and a flood outside of 10.

Besides that, any true short pattern like 35ft.   I just dont have the ball speed to keep the ball from hooking early. ( mid 16mph consistently ) on the Qubica system.

Lately, on our monday nite league, I've had fits!!  we bowl 2nd shift, and before us it's all women, so alot of the time you get the big time over/under.  now it doesnt help, i've been bowling like crap the last two weeks lol.

Im going with blacknois on this one. The Willow Creek Tourney near Green Bay can be brutal depending on what shift you bowl. couple years ago i shot 686 and won $500 in brackets off of $10 lol

Cheetah on wood lanes always gets me.

I have more trouble on the shorter patterns (36' or less)

I completely agree.

The Chameleon because there never seems to be anywhere to play on the lane. Just a bunch of head scratching and arms in the air. Tough to me.

As for open play, I made a thread about what would happen if a house rarely stripped the lanes. I have practiced at such a house with dry heads and mass carry down. Very hard.

2nd shift on my late league has caused some aggravating nights as well. Have to make big moves and it isn't until you get a wide open split when you can tell you need to move. Real sick of the 4-7-10 every Friday night.

a flat oil pattern like the one used in the us open is the most difficult.
