can you do a reverse sarge easter grip?
« on: June 06, 2010, 11:04:10 AM »
Would that work? By reverse i mean, if i injured my middle finger (Rh'd), could i have the ring finger be finger tip and the middle be conventional? Or would you hang up or something.

You could do one or the other or both.

Well i did hurt/strain my middle finger so i was thinking this might be a viable option if it really would work so i could let it heal and still bowl.

I'm sure you could do it... but I question how comfortable it would be, and with the Easter your rev rate is not really changed much, rather axis rotation is... with a "reverse" easter grip I would imagine you would see both a decrease in rev rate (simply because I don't see your ring finger having as much leverage as the middle) as well as a decrease in axis rotation, and a large increase perhaps in tilt (you would probably be likely to "spin" the ball).

Could you do it, sure... is it practical, who knows.

I think just a straight conventional grip might be less "risky", and you would surly still be able to bowl.

perhaps bighook69, but the point is, when my finger is stretched, or when im applying some sort of grabbing pressure it sure doesnt feel very good, going to conventional probably wouldnt help at all (dont really want any pressure on the middle finger).. I can probably deal with a spinning ball for like a month or two if thats what it takes, I can still bowl normally its just unpleasant at times. I just want it to heal up and i feel like me bowling on it makes the healing process much slower.

Anyways if it doesnt work out, im sure its not a big deal, just plug and redrill one hole wont be much money. I just didnt feel like trying it if its something that probably wouldn't work.

Its worth a try! Might want to consider just taking some time off though if it hurts that easily... wouldn't want to make things worse.
