customs duties - USA to Canada

Has anyone in Canada ordered a bowling ball from the USA?  If so, was the bowling ball subject to customs duties?  Buying bowling balls online from the states is so much cheaper (but if I have to pay customs duties, I'm not sure if it would still be cheaper and worth it).

If buying a ball from the USA would cost me $200CAD + $45-$50, that's only about $20 less than buying a bowling ball from a local proshop.  On top of that, most proshops discount drilling if you buy the ball from them, so I'm no longer sure if it's worth getting things online from the USA.

From my understanding, according to what that says, customs duties is to protect Canadian businesses from cheaper businesses outside of Canada.  However, I don't think there is a Canadian business that makes bowling balls, so I'm not sure if bowling balls would be subject to customs duties.  Has anyone actually ordered from the states and had to pay customs or brokage fees?
