Defiant or Nexus Solid?
« on: February 29, 2012, 07:35:38 AM »
I'm looking for a new ball I have decided on one of these two balls, Need to fill the Heavy oil Void I have.  I am a stroker about 15 mph, I play down and in, as I look on bowlingball.com, I see the ball's are pretty even as far as hook goes, I am going for a max hook drill as I don't have a lot of hand.  Looking for any comments to help decide, good or bad.  thanks

I just got a Defiant punched up, and I already like what I see compared to my VG Nano.  Even though I can get a ton of hand in it, my A game has always been throwing hard and playing straighter.  The Defiant has no problems handling that.

Compared to the Nexus solid and the VG Nano, I think the Defiant is slightly less angular but gives a great midlane read and has more of a hard arc motion.  Compared to my Nano, it is smoother and more predictable.  I also like that it doesn't seem to burn up as often in the back.  The Defiant also has a slightly stronger cover than the Nexus and right about the same or very slightly above the Nano.

The Nexus and Defiant are comparable.  I think it comes down to the type of ball reaction you are looking for.  More length/angle on the back- go with the Nexus.  More midlane/hard arc- go with the Defiant.

Both the Nexus f(P+F) and the Nexxus f(P+R) can handle the heavier oil conditions out there.  The new Nexxus is about 4 boards stronger overall with a more angular look than the original Nexus solid.  Both balls clear the heads cleanly, and then make a strong move when reaching the friction.  The Nexxus will allow people without as many revs to hook the ball in heavier oil conditions.  If you are looking for a stronger ball, than the Nexxus won't disappoint!
