what is the best urethane ball?
« on: August 30, 2004, 07:29:58 PM »
I average 220 with urethane equipment and I'm looking for the best new urethane bowling balls on the market today. I throw a blue hammer currently.
Price is not a factor. I'm looking for information as far as which balls hook the most, which is best for dry lanes, oily lanes etc...   thanks

By Far and Away:

Visionary Slate Blue Gargoyle and the Storm Thunder Flash Pro.

If you're interested in buying either slightly used, PM me. I have the Thunder Flash in 16 lbs. and the Gargoyle in 15lbs. Both are in great condition. I don't need Urethane anymore, I've developed some new releases over the summer that eliminate my need for em'.

coaks -- I can't believe the Buzzheads haven't mentioned the Lane 1 XXL, the other urethane ball with a dynamic core (besides the Slate Blue).  If you are interested in the old Faball Hammers, the following site has some available nib for $49.95.  I've recommended this site so often folks probably think I'm connected with it, but not so.  As a matter of fact, I've never bought anything from them, so can't evaluate their performance as a supplier.  --  JohnP

I always loved the Phantoms. In fact I have a few in the shop still. A NIB BlackPhantom as well as used Black and Crimson.

I do have a NIB Black Hammer, Blue PEarl and a Nail as well but I don't know if I am really interested in selling them unless the price is right.

The XXL from Lane 1 is a great ball that hooks more than you'd think but has the patented smooth backend.

I've used most available urethane balls and the best in my opinion is the
Lane 1 XXL. I had heard that the Storm Thunder Flash had a bit of
"reactive" additive in it. The Slate Blue Gargoyle is a fine ball and the Pure
Hammer looks to be among the best also.
