Good strategy on lanes that were open bowled on?
« on: October 11, 2010, 11:11:59 AM »
So I'm currently not bowling in a super serious league. That means I come in at 9:00pm, after a pretty relaxed bowling league. Most people are throwing plastic, and half the people in my league are as well. It's just a for fun school thing, but I often find the lane conditions rather unpredictable. I also end up practicing often on a mix of open bowling or fresh shots as well.

It's a typical house shot, it varies a bit but mostly solid oil in the middle, with the typical friction to the outside. There is really no used up track area, sometimes an out of bounds on board 1-5, either it's very wet/very dry depending on who bowled before us. The main problem is a lot of carrydown. I try to play further inside since mostly anyone throwing reactive seems to play from 20ish to the gutter. So playing inside I get a line all to myself most nights.

Anyone think this is a valid strategy? I have a lot of carry issues with my current gear so I was looking to get a more aggressive pearl ball like the reign or Anarchy by storm, getting past all the mess in the middle with enough reaction on the backend. Right now I can get to the pocket but it never carries well. If I use my weaker thunderstruck pearl I can play a good straight outside line, but this breaks down and gets messy since everyone is throwing out there usually.

Thanks in advance
