What is the most inconsistent part of your game?
« on: August 10, 2004, 11:20:26 PM »
Ball speed?
Follow Through?
Timing?
Mental?
Drifting?
Lunging?
Raising Up at the line?
None of the above because you don't really care?

V

For me, I'd say 1) speed 2) follow thru (at times) 3) Raising up 4)Lunging

Right now I would say timing.  I'm too early which throws off my speed conrol and follow thru.  Course I've always had mental problems.

My game is right on target with all the ones you listed but when I come and bowl when I haven't bowled for a while (1-2 weeks) then my timing is off a little but I can usually fix that right up with some practice.

It would definitely have to be my release.  The ball feels different almost every time it leaves my hand.  Only recently, after being told what I've been doing wrong, has my release improved.  I would also have to say my follow through.  For years I've been trying to tattoo on my forehead, "FOLLOW THROUGH" but I just haven't gotten it yet.  Oh yes.. one more thing. My spare shooting has come to the point that if I don't get all 10 pins down the first time, I'll never get what's left standing.

Just about everything is messed up in my game. My timing is off, my spare shooting sucks, I still muscle the ball, mental, i short arm the ball alot, which affcts my ball speed and makes it way slow.  How do I even average 170?? Jesus.

mine's got to be mental. I have to fight getting angry when I throw a boad shot, get reset, another frame, all that. Really though, my most common "flaw" is often balance in my approach. Most times I throw a bad shot, I'll find myself falling off at the line, and I know I just lost my balnce.

When I first read this I thought it said "consistent" so I put down a few things.  Now that I've read it correctly my answer would have to be ball speed.  It's always a problem getting the right speed and holding it.  Second most inconsistent thing for me is probably what I refer to as "launch angle."  I have times where I cannot get the ball far enough right or I can't keep from tugging it.  Never both problems at the same time (thankfully) but when I have one or the other it seems extremely hard to correct.

I would say my timing.

I have a knee a back injury.  Nothing really serious, but on the days that
one of them decides to act up, my timing goes to pot.  My first step (no comments from the peanut gallery) is the worst when this happens.  I
am so focused on trying to block out the pain that it effect my approach.

The approaches themselves play a huge role here too, if I can't plant I cant heave (for those that have seen it lol) , but seriously if there is no tracking on the 2nd, or 4th step, I have problems.

My armswing.
Sometimes its loose, sometimes it's muscled.
Sometimes it's in a figure 8 shape, sometimes it's straight.
Sometimes I chicken wing, most times I don't.

Foot speed/timing.

Mental game isn't great either.

Mental.  Since the mind controls everything, I guess thats a good thing to blame

I have big problems in the 8-10 frames of big games, focusing too hard and fighting through dissapointments. (Covering the spare, or leaving a split)

Ball speed tends to creep up every now and then, but only on drier lanes.  Im better at slowing it down then speeding it up

D <~~~~ Used to be terrible wiffing 10 pins.  Now through much practice, can wiff any single pin spare at any time.
