ATTN: Metro Detroit Bowlers!
« on: August 05, 2004, 10:58:52 PM »
West side please....

Anyone looking for one or 2 spots to fill this season?  Just got a call that the team I was going to be on may not have a spot in the league they were attempting to get into!  Plus, the team has a 'back' injury !

Sooo,...I was told to put out feelers just in case....

Anyone ?!?!?!

Message me!  Thanks.........

Jeff--just a few clarifications, please.  Are looking for a league for a team to enter, or are you looking for a team that needs a bowler or two?  Also, how far east are you willing to go--to Woodward or just east of there, or do you want to stay even further west?

sorry Shiv, nice catch,.....a spot for 1 or 2 people, not an entire team...thanks.

I'd like to stay within a 15-20 minute window from my house!  So, Woodward is kind of far, but....what do you have ?

I do most of my bowling at Astro on John R. just south of 14 Mile.  It's just east of I-75 and probably too far east for your taste.  For me, it's quite a ways west.  Our league just about always can use a team or two, so I wanted to see if a team is what you were looking to place.  The house is not as tough as it used to be, but even so, a 200 average there is pretty well deserved.  The league has an upper and a lower division, so you can choose the tougher competition if that's what you're up for.  Before I rattle on endlessly, let me know if that's too far east for you anyway.  Most other teams and leagues I have any info about are even further east.

what night Shiv??

I wouldn't want to do Fridays.....

No, ....it's just 1 or 2 "spaces" bowlers, not teams...

Hey Jeff, would Walled Lake be too far for you?  I am signed up for a Monday night league, 2 man teams.  Bowling across 3 pairs and 3 different teams every night.  League is 16.00 a night, with handicaps and side games of course. Im looking for a second bowler on my team.

I can get you more information if you are interested, or if anyone else is interested for that matter

Hey Rocket, Im still looking for second bowler to team up with.  If you would like, we can go meet up and throw a few sometime.  Right now Im probably just going to get paired with another single bowler once the league begins.

The Langans house is different but also in good shape.  I enjoy bowling there.  I live right in Waterview Farms apartments, so its also very close by.

Jeff:

What type of league are you looking for?  I'm in a mixed league at Mayflower in
Redford that bowls every other Saturday starting at 5:45.  It's truly a social
league, and utilizes 100% of handicap.  We have various nightly jackpots, and
no banquet at the end of the year, so payoffs are quite good compared to other
leagues.  Lot's of beer drinking, and relatively easy (read: sometimes slow) pace.
But it is a fun league, and typically fills this 32 lane house.  There's almost always
space for a new team or two at the beginning of each year, and I know of at least
one team that's looking for two more bowlers.  Don't know if this is the type of thing
 you're looking for.

Hi all...

I am now all set! I'll be bowling at Taylor Lanes on Thursday nights....that's the house where I bowled in my first mens league 2 seasons ago after a 10 year layoff.....great house,....2 yr old Pro Anvilanes!

But, the best thing is this......I'll also be bowling with CJ (drcjjr) from this site.  CJ doesn't post much, but he's lurking out there!  Anyhow,...CJ is a great bowler and a great guy with a great bowling mind who helped me thru some rough times (all my changes) last season....thanks CJ!  Now, I get to have him on my team !

Anyhow,..thanks for the suggestions folks !
