When switching hands, you get a new card for the specified hand and it's as if you were a brand new bowler. If you had a sanctioned  average (within the span of years specified in the league rules), then that is used. If you do not have any avg., then you get what an unsanctioned bowler gets according to the leagues rules. Most league specify what a new bowler gets or if he has to establish and average with his/her first 3, 6 or 9 games. Then that average is used to compute handicap and won/lost for each game.

in my area, league sec's don't seem to follow these rules. Over the years, I've seen several guys do this and they're still bowling leagues and tourney's. At least one league I belong to takes care of baggers.

The bowlers does not need to purchase another card. Bowler only need one card for the season and the average in the leagues has to be kept separate one for the right hand and one for the left hand. The league has to have a meeting to let bowler change hands during the season usually it has to be because of a injury. After injury heals another league meeting must be held to let the bowler switch back.

agree with t1. I had this happen two years ago I snapped tendons in my forearm. obviously you cannot switch during set, one you start with that hand have to finish set with same hand. no need for another card have to have league meeting, establish new seperate act from other hand as if you new bowler I didnt have to have a Meeting when I wanted to come back cause had two est avges people might not like it but I was bringing two sets of equipment for a little while to make sure my ARM could handle it  and warming up with both but once lights on you have to stick.with what you choose.

Globally my game has never been better in tourneys they always say im a longshot, in my head i am always the favorite.  At the end of the day I'm scoring a raw profit to deposit in the bank.
