I own the center that the team walked out on Monday. This was a $hitty deal. There was one association board member who has it in for me because he thinks I bought the place out from under him a year ago. I feel he was looking for an excuse to quit. One of the new teams has a good bowler from about 30 miles away that I hear the board member has been running his mouth about. I think that guy was looking foward to beating him in his "home" center to shut him up. Anyway, he started balking at the price increase. I raised bowiling 25 cents per game because I put in automatic scoring and several more updates/remodeling. He knows that the league, not the center sets the price. The league discussed how much to raise; either 75 cents to cover my increase or a full dollar, to make keep things simple. They voted TWICE to go with $9.00. Last year I put a new coat of finish on the lanes and took away the bumper-bowl shot on his side (he is a lefty). He CAN'T ADJUST. The association PRESIDENT also walked, balking at the price. Fine examples of officers, huh? Anyway, stormerjip had also just been elected president of the league and when they walked out (they were, or maybe one of them still is, his friends) I'm sure his mind was on losing the league, not just a team. I am VERY IMPRESSED with his enthusiasm about keeping the league together and we are going to add more teams!! As soon as the guy who is the board member left, everyone was thinking of people who would bowl now that he is gone. Had I known this, I might have gotten rid of him last year before he came in and almost destroyed our association. Anyone wanting to bowl with us for $9 bucks a night, we are in Albion IL, out in the middle of cornfields!! We even occasionally have games in the parking lot and are open to challenges!!!
As for your first game gitters, maybe come in and throw a whole game of practice before league. Maybe find one of the girls that dances around a brass pole..........
