Ball you'd NEVER try?
« on: January 01, 2004, 07:04:57 PM »
We've had a post about what company you've yet to try, but what about a company you'd NEVER try.  Is there any one company who's product you'd never even give a chance?  I'll start.  For me, I'd never throw Columbia 300.  I've seen them in action and I'm just not impressed.  No offense!

I have thrown almost all of them.
I cannot say I would exclude any.
I started off my career with a
sanded wrecking ball from Columbia,
followed by an AMF RPM ninja (purple)
then came the zones and the money,
won 2nd place in an assoc. tourney
1 week after I had the D2Z drilled.
payed for itself 2 times in one week.
From zones to storm to the buzzsaws.

I have the SAWS in the stable now.

Saws are made to cut ANYTHING including 10 pins
FAILURE IS FEEDBACK. AND FEEDBACK IS THE BREAKFAST OF CHAMPIONS THAT GOT DIGESTED!

Ten pin?????? Where?? I throw a BUZZSAW there is NUTTIN left on the deck...

Member of the FOS, if there happens to be a 9 pin standing just toss a saw and cut it down~~!

Maybe this should be a "never again" post.  Thanks to Ebonite for making the only ball I've ever passionately hated in the Savage Flip.  It hooked way too early and was WORTHLESS in carrydown, and EXTREMELY over-sensitive to every small change on the lane.  I had a Messenger B/S/P, and shot my only sanctioned 290 so far, but I don't like Columbia in the least.  Never tried Track before, and have been interested, but they're made by Columbia, so I doubt that'll ever happen.  Plus, those STUPID logos on both Track and Columbia balls that end up right in your palm most of the time are the reason I sold my Messenger, ball did nothing but give me blisters.  Hammer doesn't interest me in the least, besides the fact it gets SO old trying to tell all the old codgers, "Yes, THOSE ARE HAMMERS!!"

"I pulled up behind a big rig that had gotten stuck under an overpass, and when the policeman got there, I saw him smile, and thought, 'My God, he can't say it . .'  Sure enough, he asks the trucker, 'Get your truck stuck?'  And bless his heart, without missing a beat, the trucker replied, 'Nope, I was deliverin' this overpass and ran out of gas.'  Here's your sign . . "

Ham 'p'ster, is that you?? how ya been?  couldn't help but notice and wonder, the Flip is a reactive pearl, it WOULD not be of much use in carrydown.

boy there are some ignorant posts here.  The post says....a company you 'd NEVER try,....not that you'd NEVER TRY ...AGAIN.....

Look at the post:

Why in the freakin' world wouldn't ANYONE try something they've NEVER thrown ??
That is the question, ...companies you've thrown and didn't match up with DON'T COUNT !

To answer your question Porkchop, I'd TRY ANY companies stuff ! Why not ?

Jeff you have made a very valid point about the "never try', and not "never try again". But in subtle debate, there are reasons, sometimes very personal, for people NOT to use, purchase, or support a particular manufacturer.

I had a Black Omega by Ebonite, drilled "wrong" for me, not only for my style, but also the span and pitches were way off. That does not mean I will not try some other Ebonite. Years ago, Big B always was "too early" for me. But I found the Red/Black Monster and ScreamR excellent balls for my game.

I have expressed several times that I personally will NEVER use certain company, and it is in fact due to some solid reasons of mistrust, deception, and pure "mistruths" by the company and it's "owner". All of which can be verified. The owner at one point attempted to answer to this in another thread, however, instead he "put his foot in his mouth". He gave answers that did not "add-up", and when "called" on them, he never responded!

So, please remember, that there may be a reason other quality, or misconception of a companies products to behave in a certain way, either performace, quality, etc., something else may be at stake.

Jeff, by now I think "most" regulars here know me somewhat, and that I try to be fair. As a matter of fact I am shipping out a pair of Linds Classics for nothing but the shipping cost, because my 84 year old father hasn't bowled in 3 years, and I hate to see these shoes sit.
I also give accolades to those that deserve it....like Roto Grip and all they have done for bowlers, especially the NY State Firemen.
I even had one buyer of a ball never come through....despite pics, and e-mails. He had an excuse of working OT (Holiday season 2002), but even after that, still nothing. I never posted his name or that transaction. Things happen. And I would most likely deal with him again, as he has had other good deals here.

Thanks Jeff, you have been one excellent member of these boards, with an open mind, and intelligent responses.
