what new ball would you pick?
« on: May 03, 2008, 01:32:30 AM »
I've been presented with the option of having 1 new ball of my choice at no cost to me. If you guys were given this option, what ball would you choose?

The balls I'm interested in are as follows :
Twisted Fury
Gravity Shift
Cell
Black Widow Pearl
Complete NV

My current arsenal is as follows :
Resurgence - favorite, my no.1 ball
Momentum - my no.3. it reads lanes too early & moves really quick on backends.
Total NV - my no.2
Tropical - despise this ball. too strong for dry lanes, which is why i bought.

What I've listed above is not set in stone, I'm open to other options.
I'm not really looking for any specific action, just a good overall ball. If it complements what I already have, I guess that would be an added bonus. I will say that all the stuff I current have is usually too strong for the lanes I bowl on, so whatever I get I'll probably put a weak drilling in it to see how it does.

The two that I would pick is Cell and Complete NV over the others. Then take a look at both to see if any one fit your style of bowling. And also which one can handle lane condition you bowl on.
I hate ten pins but love the game of bowling with just the right ball to take them out.

Cell! This is the best ball I've thrown in 30 years or more!If you want less entry angle, drill it 2 1/2x5 1/2 as in the supplied drill sheet.I can use that ball on anything but extremes!

If what you have is too strong for you most of the time, I can't see how a Cell would do you any good. I'd think the Twisted Fury -- or a 900G Break Pearl -- with a weaker pin-pap distance (to cut down on the flare) would do you well. If the problem with the balls being too strong is mostly too much backend reaction, also consider a Rico drilling to smooth the over-under and create a more controllable reaction.

I have the Twisted and the Cell, I have friends who have the other 3 balls, they're all getting Cells. I've had people from other leagues asking me what I'm throwing and some of them have gotten Cells. Most versatile ball I've ever had and I've had a lot of them. The Twisted is no slouch either, but it's not impressive, the hook isn't, the pocket action isn't, but it just knocks pins down. Ugly but effective. JMO. Hope this helps ya!

Cell, ultra zone, fury pearl or vapor zone. In that order. This is my starting line up. Try and a blazing inferno with a stacked 5 1/2 x 5 1/2" drilling. Ball loves burnt heads with good continuation.
