Tape In The Thumb Hole
« on: February 28, 2004, 11:30:22 PM »
Every one talks about tape on the front side and  tape on the back side. I asked this question in another post and no one answered, so will try again.

Which side is the front side? Under the thumb or over the thumb on the knuckle side?

Thanks everyone. I was guessing the grip side was the front side, but wanted to be sure. I just started using a piece of white tape in the grip side a week ago and seemed to like it as it seemed I could put more tape in the back side and use a tighter thumb hole. Prior to trying this I had to run my thumb hole on the loose side. I just make sure the last piece in the backside is black tape.

Peri,I read King's post prior to my writting this, and if it said which side was which, I missed it. That is the reason I asked the question here. However from reading the talk there, I was guessing the front side was the grip side, but wanted to be sure.......Again, thanks to everyone.

I like to use tape on both sides.A trick I use once I get the tape positioned exactly where I want it is to take an awl and hammer and mark a dot at the edge of the hole in line with the center of the tape. When I want to add or change tape I can quickly position it the same way every time.I like to use wide 2" roll black tape for the back and cut it to width rather than legnth. With the punch mark I can center the tape each time reguardless of the width I choose to cut.

The use of tape insures that all my grips feel the same in front and can be quickly customized for fit.I also save dough cause I don't need a thumb slug.
