What style are you?
« on: October 02, 2004, 03:05:37 PM »
I just realized, I've talked to all you people on here, but I never even found out the most basic thing.........What style are you?

Me, I'm a high-end tweener, speed at the deck is around 17, revs are medium-high.

So, what are you?

I started bowling no-thumb this season, but I don't hook the whole lane by any means.  I push the ball off the inside of my hand and go mostly heavy end-over-end roll.  I can change to more side roll to play inside further, but I'm pretty new at this. So far I have much better control with less side roll.  Qubica says I throw about 15.5 to 16.5.  I suppose that's around 18mph off my hand.  I still have a lot to learn about what equipment and layouts will work well for me.  I have a couple Saws that work well for me.  I threw 751 with a Cranberry two weeks ago and that was on heavy oil but I played ouside where the dry is.  First game I had 266 throwing darts up the eight board with very little hook.  Last week I couldn't carry at all.  I think I need to remember to clean the oil off the ball after each league session.

PhireX, doesn't sound like your a stroker, at all.  Sounds like you're a high-end tweener, like me.

I'm a smaller version of Brenda Norman.  She's taller than me by 3"

17-18 mph inverted tracking Tweener, 80-90 deg. axis rotation, ???rpm (I think I'm about 350-375rpm)

I can bend my elbow more and really crank on the ball if need be, but I don't like to and I never see the oil to warrant using such a style anyway. I can best compare my style to touring pro Paul Fleming (start standing fairly upright, but end with a deep knee bend to create plenty of leverage, and keep my arm locked very straight throughout the swing).

Just to help people out who arnt sure what the styles are it goes like this.

Stroker-low revs
tweener-medium revs
cranker-high revs

and speed can vary for any of these.

Stroker definitely- although I have been working my way slowly up to tweener status. I believe I average between 17-17.5 mph at the pin deck.

15.5-16 mph, medium revs, tweener.  I don't crank he ball by any stretch of the imagination, but I can use as much of the lane as I need to to get to the hole.

LOL.  Yeah, mine too!  I can't imagine being married to a woman who couldn't cook!

Me?  I don't know... Suppose I'd be an upper end tweener, maybe low end cranker.  Not sure, never hooked myself up to any of them fancy machines to find out exactly.  Seems I have speed on the slow end of average.   I guess you could just say I'm crazy? LOL!

On edit: I forgot to mention I can throw the ball between my legs, left handed, right handed, right handed with a left handed spin, I can also do a real backspin (slows the ball down a lot before it gets to the pins lol), no thumb, no finger, no thumb or fingers (palm it) and if I have a conventional ball that fits right I can do "around the world"!
