Airline Bag Suggestions
« on: March 01, 2004, 06:32:44 AM »
This upcomming May will be the first time I fly to a tournament.  Can someone suggest from experience a good 3-ball roller bag that will be flyer-friendly and protect my equipment?  If not a specific bag, what features should I be looking for?  Price isn't as much of an object as keeping the balls from being damaged.

My Columbia 4-Ball has been all over the place and no problems.  It has gone on flights with United - LAx to Chicago Ohare to Greensboro and back.  It has also been on Southwest from LAX to San Jose, Oakland, Indianapolis, St Louis, Reno 2x, Las Vegas, and back from all locations.  None of my equipment has been damaged and the bag is still in great shape.

A friend of mine who goes by air to a lot of tournaments in different countries really likes her hard-plastic three-ball roller from Storm. Don't know how she got it. It looked something like the one you'll find if you follow the link below to a Swedish manufacturer. Don't know if the Swedish roller is available from other sources.

Check with your airline first.  Most have some kind of rule that a bowling bag can only have two balls.  Have seen bowlers at Reno have to remove one ball from their 3-ball bags.

quote:
You may substitute bowling equipment for one piece of the two allowable checked pieces of luggage. Bowling equipment is considered as one pair of shoes and two bowling balls in an appropriate bag.
