With a few posters recently talking about short oil and long oil I got thinking how many of you bowlers who are struggling to get the finish you are looking for at the pin deck even though you get to the pocket fairly consistently. Most of the time the angle is only slighty off and changing axis rotation is too large of a change. I remember watching Earl Anthony demonstrate things with a bowling ball that was just amazing. He changed the length of the breakpoint by changing his wrist position. This often times changed the angle to the pocket just enough for him to increase his carry percentage.
If you flatten the wrist you have more skid and late revs. If you cup the wrist you have less skid and more revs.
Flat wrist = go long and snap, gets through heads without expending energy saves it for later.
Cupped wrist = arc, starts early expends more energy earlier.
Also with the flattened wrist it helps you get through the heads better ala the drag shot.
So if you struggle with carry you might want to try this technique.
If you have comments on this post them here. If you have success post them here as well.
