Proper Release???
« on: August 19, 2006, 02:20:41 AM »
I am a high average bowler who has been bowling for 25 years.  At the end of last year I started experiencing a problem with tracking over the finger hole.  While I have always had a high track, i have never regularly tracked over the finger hole.  Obviously this is killy my carry percentage.  I have thought about how to rid myself of this suddenly bad habit, but do not really know why i am doing this or how to get out of it.  Can anyone tell me the proper thumb position at release (like 2 oclock, for a righty) and also what position (oclock) my fingers should be positioned as my thumb releases and then what direction/path my fingers should follow as i come thru the release point.  Any help would be appreciated.  THanks.

Before going through the semantics of release, have you changed equipment recently?  Are you using a ball that you've plugged and redrilled recently?

A high-tracking bowler using equipment with the wrong layout can cause tracking over the finger holes, thumb holes, or both.

try turning your wrist a little more as its seems you are releasing it end-over-end. Have some one like a coach or a driller watch you bowl and solve the problem.
