Recommendation for a Urethane ball
« on: September 30, 2004, 02:25:52 AM »
Im looking to get a urethane ball to use on a casual league which we are usually provided a terribly dry shot.  I haven't used any Urethane since my Blue Hammer was tragically lost in a basement flooding.  Can anyone recommend any good balls for me to check out?

Typical ball speed is between 15-16mph, and my usual line is playing outside.  I have a friend who throws a very similar ball and line as me on the same league, and he uses the Burgandy Hammer to score pretty well.  Anything comparable to that with todays equipment?  Thanks in advance

Hey Darrell,

Columbia makes a Scout urethane or you can always try ebay, there was a bunch of old original hammers up for a while.  I had 2 come into the shop for drilling, in the original box too...that was a sight.

I have a 16# Faball Blue Pearl Hammer and 16# Faball Black Hammer that I do not use anymore because I switched to 15#.  If you are interested, PM me.

Ebonite has a Gyro particle urethane. Never seen one thrown but it is the only particle urethane that I know of.

The Slate Blue gargoyle is a good modern selection with a dynamic core.  If you want the 1980's model Faball Hammer balls, check out this site:

Shameless plug:

I have a 16# Blue Nail Urethane.  I used it for maybe 4-10 games, and found out it was 16 (I use 15).  LMK if you use 16, as I have no need for the ball.

Columbia Trooper is a nice urethane ball.
Not to expensive, and has the Scout Reactive Core.
I had one drilled with a 1" pin, pin under ring  finger  cg stacked under pin.
I have no pap.

I'm going to look into the Visionary Slate Blue Gargoyle, which is also urethane.
