With all the buzz recently about how high your rev rate is, I got to wondering what a high rate would be. Friday night I overheard someone say that they hit the ball hard and the other person asked if he knew his rev rate. The man said that it was 470. Is that good?

That is very good.

As far as rev rates are concerned, 470 is definitely considered a high rev rate. The rule of thumb, is 0 to 200 is considered a stroker. I would say that 200 to 300 is a power stroker. 300 to 400 is a power tweener. Anything over 400 should be considered a cranker. Robert Smith on tour is considered to have the highest rev rate, and he is around 540 (what I have seen on tv). He has been measured as high as the low 700s, which is ungodly.

If anyone out there is worried about the scores being too high, try duckpin!!

I'm at 410 and people say I'm a cranker. I'd say that TWOHAND's reply is pretty accurate.

You wanna bet me how much? Let's play!

Thanks Can you Rev,
In terms of style, either you stroke it or crank it and they have nothing to do with rev rate..
In terms of rev rate: stroker - tweener (in betweener) - power player..

king,
I've counted with the BCB before, and it is challenging because there is so much darn print on the ball. Take a piece of White athletic tape about 2 inches by 2 inches and place it in the middle of the grip, between the thumb and fingers. Get someone to tape you from behind and throw away. have them focus on your release and then have them zoom in on the ball as it goes down the lane. Assuming you have your speed consistent that shouldn't be too much of a variable. You can count the revs of a ball by counting how many times the piece of tape goes around in a circle by watching the video in slow motion. and of course you can plug it into the equation for RPMs.
By the way, this is also assuming your pap is not in the palm. that would be harder to count with this method.

I bowl at country club bowl...not a very inventive name now is it.

My wrist brace is just like my RADAR detector, I really don't need it but it sure makes me feel better when I have it on.
