What would this do?
« on: September 17, 2004, 07:51:21 AM »
That is, not having enough right lateral pitch in my thumb?  After doing the coke can test, and paying attention to my thumb, I have decided that I need right lateral pitch in my thumb.  With the coke can, my thumb is pointing straight to my ring finger, and whne I release, I feel my thumb pushing (and ripping) against the right side of the thumb hole.  So, what would not having enough lateral do?  Could this be one of the factors not helping me get a clean release?  I have trouble with a clean, loftless release, so would this lateral actually help me?

Let me know.

simple rule of thumb (pun) is that you pitch away from your thumb damage which is also the same direction(rub right pitch right). so pitching under will move the ball away from the damage in this case.( this is why you should use left and right instead of away and under) your can test is telling you the truth it sounds like.
